ECABC = Advocacy!
ECABC is the only industry association in British Columbia exclusively dedicated to the well-being of the electrical sector. By working together to identify challenges and bring forward solutions to governments, regulators, owners and other agencies, ECABC helps to support electrical contractors, suppliers and manufacturers and their employees.
ECABC = Advocacy!
Since 1952, ECABC has supported the voice of electrical contractors and suppliers in British Columbia. Our recent advocacy issues include lobbying for Prompt Payment legislation, leveraging better opportunities for ECABC members with our other industry partners, promoting career and advancement opportunities for women in the industry, and improving the apprenticeship education system. Over the last two years, ECABC has met with dozens of elected officers and senior civil servants on behalf of our members.
Learn more about why ECABC is pushing for fairness for BC workers and small businesses.
Subcontract Issues:
ECABC is dedicated to gathering, reviewing and sharing actual legal subcontracts with its members – as a point of reference and education. These sample contracts, vetted by our lawyer, are posted in a members-only password protected area of the ECABC website to help you mitigate the risk of onerous clauses. This benefit alone will save you thousands of dollars in time and unnecessary legal fees, and may prevent you from signing a bad contract that could shift unfair risk to your company. For more information, please visit our ECABC Subcontract Page.
Industry Partnerships:
ECABC partners with other industry and trade associations to leverage better opportunities for our members. We are members of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and Canadian Electrical Contractors Association (CECA), are affiliated with the Electrical Joint Training Committee (EJTC) and are a founding partner of its subsidiary E2 Inc. Other associations that we partner with include: National Electrical Trade Council (NETCO), Western Joint Electrical Training Society (WJETS), Industry Training Authority (ITA), BC Construction Association (BCCA), Technical Safety BC (TSBC), Mechanical Contractors Association of BC (MCABC), BC Construction Safety Alliance (BCCSA), Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA), and British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).
ECABC is also a strong advocate for Women in Trades. Led by President, Deborah Cahill, ECABC is helping to promote career opportunities and advancement for women and supports training and education for those interested in entering the electrical trade.
Supporting Communities:
ECABC supports local charities each year through several golf tournaments. Recent donations have been made to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island and Kordyban Lodge. As a member of the Association, you also have an opportunity to join one of our many committees to help lead positive change in the industry.
